Outdoor Air

Quantifying excess ventilation.

Heating or cooling the air needed for occupant ventilation is normally one of the largest points of energy use in most buildings. Controls system readings and even air balance data is often notoriously incorrect.

We have developed accurate metrics for determining air flow based on specific samples of smart meter data and psychrometric engineering principles. This data is not only important to minimizing excess energy use but also critical to properly dividing the total energy use pie to all of the systems and equipment in buildings.

Outdoor Humidity and Consumption - Buildings that have high sensitivity to outdoor air humidity have large amounts of outdoor air flow. How much? We are developing algorithms to pinpoint this data.
